Mary Betty Jordan was born March 21, 1936 in Essex County, Virginia to the late Frank O. Epps And Eva Della Epps. She succumbed to illness and earned her heavenly wings on February 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her brothers James Epps and Frank R. Epps.
Mary Betty was baptized early on in life at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply Virginia, in which her great grandparents were among the founders. Her parents then relocated the family to Washington D.C., where she received her high school diploma from Spingarn High School.
On March 17, 1962, Mary Betty Epps married Walter Jordan Jr. in Washington, D.C. Over this 10 year union, three children were produced Ivan N. Jordan, Inez C. Jordan, and Troy T. Jordan. Mary Betty devoted the remainder of her life loving, teaching, providing and caring for these children. She had a heart of gold and was an exceptional role model.
In December 1995, Mary Betty retired from the Federal government after 30 years of service. Her last position was a Quota Source Manager for the United States Department of the Army. Over her illustrious career she received numerous commendations.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children Ivan N. Jordan, Inez C. Jordan, and Troy T. Jordan (Lisa); brothers John A. Epps, Wayne Epps, and Larry Epps; grandchildren Ashley Britton, Danielle Britton, Tyree Jordan, and Nyiah Jordan, great grandchildren Michael Britton and Alexandra Britton, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We were truly blessed to have Mary Betty Jordan in our lives!
