

He attended DC Public Schools and graduated from HD Woodson High School in 1976. He then furthered his education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1983 and a Master of Science in Accounting from Strayer University, Washington DC, in 2000.
Michael met Annette Martellotto in 1992 while playing softball in DC. They married on August 14th, 1996 and to this union 3 beautiful daughters were born. He was very proud of his family and bragged about the women in his life every chance he got.
Active from an early age, Michael ran and excelled in track in high school. He also tried his hand at football and basketball.
His other hobbies included playing softball, bicycling, playing Bid Whist, taking family vacations to the beach, watching his daughters swim and play softball and watching all Washington sports teams, especially the Washington Nationals!
Being referred to as “Hawk” or “Big Mike”, he will forever be known for his contagious smile, laughter and his big heart.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Annette, daughters Erica, Julia and Olivia as well as the family dog, Shadow. He leaves a brother, Julius Hawkins, Jr. and a niece, Taylor Hawkins. He leaves his childhood friends, Anthony Frizzell and Kenneth Stovall, as well as many cousins, his Warrior teammates, and a host of family and friends.
