

Omar McCall was born on May 2, 1931 to the late Homer McCall and the late Gertrude Knight (Goff) in Birmingham, Alabama. Omar transitioned to eternal rest on December 23, 2025 peacefully in his sleep at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, Maryland.
His family relocated to Akron, Ohio and later to Cleveland, Ohio where Omar attended public schools, graduating from Glenville High School in 1949. He briefly attended Case Western Reserve where he focused on classes in Sociology.
November 1951 Omar enlisted in the United States Army. He was one of three African American men chosen to be the first to attend Officer Candidate School. In June 1954 he led integrated troops in the Korean Conflict in the rank of Second Lieutenant. Later while serving in the United States Army Reserve, Omar was promoted to the rank of Major before resigning.
Omar loved aviation and became a licensed pilot in Santa Monica, California. He briefly owned his own plane and later a fishing yacht where he enjoyed the company of friends and family. His interest were varied, including hunting, fishing and golf, often with his African American Social Club First Team. These proud men would meet regularly at a location on U Street in Washington, DC they dubbed "The Corner" to enjoy a drink, tell tall tales and support one another. Omar loved jazz and had an extensive collection. It was his passion and he spent countless hours listening to many of the great artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Count Bassie, Oscar Peterson and by far his favorite, Miles Davis.
A successful business, Omar McCall and Associates, Inc, was formed with his business partner Michael Scalzo and was in operation for over 40 years. He retired in 2021 and spent many happy days with his devoted wife, Liddian.
Omar was preceded in death by a sister Juanita, his parents Homer McCall and Gertrude Knight (Goff) and his two pervious wives, Patricia Lois Stanley (McCall) and Patricia Blocker (McCall).
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 43+ years, Liddian M McCall of Ellicott City, Maryland. Daughters Mari-Lynn Whatley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Patricia E McCall of Santa Monica, California, Romel C Ellis of Largo, Maryland, Regina E Rivers of Laurel, Maryland. Sons Omar K McCall and his partner Caroline Prowling of Columbia, Maryland, Guy Blocker of West Palm Beach, Florida. Grandchildren LaMia C Ellis, Tyler Blocker, Steven Blocker, Christian Blocker. Godson James P Munford, II. A host of relatives and friends.
