While on active duty, Salvador received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Army Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged on 4 January, 1957. Salvador’s Federal Service career began as a Librarian with the United States Civil Service Commission in 1951 and culminated as a Deputy Chief Librarian at the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in January 1985.
