I was just telling my 11 year daughter about a friend I had in middle school since she currently has a similar friendship that made me think of Vanessa. I Googled to see where she is now and unfortunately, this came up. I’m heartbroken to read this. She was one of a kind. We would write notes to each other, she called me “Rich” and would sign her name “Broke”. Vanessa came to my birthday party and I have video footage of her acting her goofy self, always making me laugh. The day I found out she was moving after 8th grade, I cried, I knew I wouldn’t see her again (pre social media days). I hope her soul is in a happy place. Love, Kelli Fox (formerly Quelet)

It was my honor and pleasure to have worked with Ms. Vanessa  on the YMCA Business Team.  She was a very special person and will be greatly missed. Prayers and condolences for all her family and friends.

I am so sad to hear about this loss Ms. Vanessa, you are an amazing person! When Jett and I first moved here from Chicago, we were alone. You gave us a foundation and a safe place. It is because of you my son has life long friends and genuine support. You made a way out of no way for Jett, and our hearts are forever grateful to you.  I’ve learned an amazing lesson from you: Attitude is everything. You never let someone’s bad attitude mess up your day. I always admired how you didn’t take things personal. I admire that about you. Dear family, my deepest condolences to you. Your daughter your sister was a true Gem. She too was a true Gem to me. Ness thats what i called her has been my friend since we met at the Y. We just clicked and it that friendship was a done deal. No one was breaking our bond. I am so devastated by her loss but i will keep her memories of her always. My heart is broken but myself, Carolyn, Mr. Ed and a few more close y friends will cherish the memories of Vanessa. Magnificent she was. Love you Ness! I will see you again my dear friend.

Ugggghhh I am so heart broken! Ms. Vanessa  was always so welcoming we would sit and talk when I came into the Y she would say hey Ms. Doyle  in the most cheerful voice. My deepest  condolences  to her family  and her Ymca family she is and will forever be missed!!! 

I  met Vanessa  several years ago when my Sister Tonya worked at the YMCA  with her she was always smiling and pleasant she loved what she she did at the YMCA  she was a really nice person she will truly be missed

My sincere condolences go out to the Wright family with the loss of a beautiful person.  Also, to my YMCA family in which I met Vanessa.  She started out with a ray of sunshine always to support the needs of parents concerns for their children.  If Ms. Vanessa was involved you would know your child was okay.  She always included them in her schedule no matter what was going on in her life. No child left behind whether food, ride,lunch money or even a doctors appointment Vanessa would offer. Even though it never happened she would say we're all family. I loved her spirit and passion for humanity for others.  This world would be a better if we had more Vanessa's.  Keep shining my friend you're in a heavenly place.  As she would say "have a beautiful one".

 For the past 5 years I had the pleasure of knowing you. No one kept is real like Ms. Vanessa.  You have contributed so much growth to my daughter. I met you at the YMCA 2001. You were the funniest person I knew. We grew so close you threw my baby shower for your godson “Amari Warrick 18). I remember us doing pain killer shopping when we were stressed. I remember you coming to motivate me and checking on me daily when John died. I’m so broken hearted right now V. I never saw this coming. Now I know why you missed his(Amari) graduation last Wednesday. Aye thanks for showing me how to use Nextel LOL!! You would never send an alert first LMBO.  You would just scream over the speaker to embarrass me in wherever I was LLH.  I will always love you V. Love Moe 😔

This is very hard for me..I will miss  Vanessa's infectious smile and kind spirit; to me, she was the face for YMCA. Vanessa had a soft spot for my sons Clifton, Dean and Clint, she always spoiled my daughter and was awaiting the day she could join the Y. Vanessa always made time for you when you needed her, she will truly be missed by the Garner family. 

Last time I seen you was about 2 months back.  So Im sitting at the bar in fridays watching sports with the fellas, batender comes over and says somebody sent you a drink.  Im thinking its from some hot admirer then I look up and start dying laughing cause didnt expect it to be you. 😂😂  Defiantly will be missed when hanging out with everyone.
