

William Lewis (Louis) Lyles was born on January 8, 1935 in Camden, South Carolina. William lived a long interesting life. William was raised as an only child by his mother, the late Sallie Patterson and his stepfather, the late Eldridge Patterson. William attend primary and secondary schools in Camden. William attended the Barr Street High School in Lancaster, South Carolina. William was a very bright student and loved to learn. He graduated with honors as the class valedictorian. Upon graduation from high school, William enlisted in the Air Force in 1957. After serving our country in the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. Once William left the military, he went to live with family in Poughkeepsie, New York. William later moved to Washington DC. William began working as a plumber and became a building manager. He was a avid football fan and loved to watch the Redskins. William also loved to watch western movies. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. William is survived by his son’s Norman Lyles, Jerry Lyles, James Lyles, Genio Wilson, and Reginald Wilson; his daughter Brenda May; his grandchildren Lauryn May, Katie May Donaldson, Christian Donaldson and Nehemiah Wilson; his wonderful great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. He will truly be missed.
