Claire May Muhr

Claire May Muhr, 76 of Mitchell, formerly of Bridgeport, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. At her request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be designated at a later time. Bridgeport Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Claire was born April 22, 1939 at Bridgeport, Nebraska to Arnold Charles and Mabel Edith (Franklin) Stuart. She attended school in Bridgeport, graduating from Bridgeport High School. She was united in marriage to Terry Don Muhr on September 14, 1957 in Bridgeport. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Bridgeport area until moving to Mitchell in 2015.

Claire was an extraordinary wife, sister, mother, grandmother and one of the strongest women you will ever meet. One of Claire’s greatest legacies that she leaves behind is teaching people to stand up for what they believe in and never compromise what is right. She worked in many capacities over the years, but one of her favorite jobs was cooking for senior citizens in both Bridgeport and in Scottsbluff at the Veteran’s Home. There was never a job too small or too hard for Claire. She worked hard to be a role model to all by teaching everyone around her to be hardworking, caring and loving. She seldom put herself first as she cared deeply for others around her. She loved visits from her family and friends. Claire also had a special love for her dogs Skeeter, Macy, Kirby and many others through the years. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and reading. Claire’s smile was contagious and lit up the room and it was rare to catch her without a smile.

Claire is survived by her husband Terry of Mitchell; her siblings Irene Stuart of Bridgeport and Carol Swires (Mark) of Bridgeport; her children Carlene Hansen (Greg) of Minatare, Rollie Muhr (Elsie) of Mitchell NE and Tim Muhr (Tammy) of Jacksonville, MO; grandchildren: Melissa Clement (Steve), April Conn (Jay), Justin Hansen (Heather), Jacob Hansen (Wendy) and Angie O’Leary (Josh), Eric Muhr (Bailye), Krisie Muhr (and special friend Roy Adams) Kyle Muhr and Alek Muhr; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Claire was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and one sister.
