Glenn Charles Barker

His funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Christ with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating.  Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel.  Glenn was born on May 22, 1929 at Belmont, Nebraska, the son of Joseph and Mae (Hammar) Barker. He attended school in Belmont and Crawford.  On January 16,1951, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Marie Teansky in Alliance, NE.  They lived in Hemingford, where Glenn worked for the railroad.  Later moving to the Fred Neeland ranch/farm, where he began his ranching career.  They moved to Harrison, NE. working for about three years.  He was asked to move to Bridgeport to work for the Melvin Grote ranch.  In his spare time he broke and trained horses.  Glenn had a passion for horses and was well known for his talent.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; children, Rhonda (Brent) Block of Gothenburg, Lynda Barker of Gothenburg; Lonnie (Rita) Barker of Bridgeport and Shanda (Eric) Rummel of Dalton; one brother, George (Lorraine) Barker of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren: Evan and Gage Stark of North Platte, Dakin and Chandler Rummel of Dalton, Anthony, Tiffany and Ryan Barker of Bridgeport; stepgrandchildren: Todd Block of Fremont, Amy Headley of Gothenburg, and Isela Chavez of Bridgeport; great stepgrandchildren: Joseph and Benjamin Headley of Gothenburg and Adrian Smith of Bridgeport and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
