

Joe Camacho, 80, of Bridgeport, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 25, 2006 at All Souls Catholic Church in Bridgeport with Father Dave Rykwalder officiating. Interment will be at the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. The Nebraska National Guard will render military Honors. Bridgeport Memorial Chapel and Cremations Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Joe was born March 5, 1926 in Fort Worth, TX to Augustine and Andrea (Guerra) Camacho. He was raised and educated in Bridgeport. and married Corrine Cordero on December 22, 1946 in Bridgeport. He served in WWII and was a survivor of Leopoldville. He belonged to the 66th Panther Division, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. In June 2005, he received an award for The Liberation of France. Joe also served in the National Guard. He was an active member of the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for 25 years. He worked for Lyman-Richie for 30 years. After his retirement, he remained busy watching his great-grandchildren grow, woodworking and gardening. Survivors include his wife Corrine of Bridgeport, brother John Camacho of Lynden, WA; sisters Jessie Gonzales of Casper, WY, Lula Muzquiz of Bridgeport; daughter Cecelia (Joe) Guerrero of Bridgeport; sons Mike (Connie) Camacho of Scottsbluff, Joseph (Michelle) Camacho of Niceville, FL; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
