

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Broadwater with Ann Bairn, PMA officiating. Cremation will follow after the service.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to either Messiah Lutheran Church or the care team at Heritage Of Bridgeport.
Bob was born on March 10, 1934 on a farm near Culbertson, NE, the son of Gus and Hermine Zapp. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1951.
He worked as a mechanic at the Chevy and Dodge garages in Lexington and also worked with his father at their own service station in Lexington. He became an insurance and credit investigator and was stationed in McCook.
From 1959 to 1962, Bob was a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol and then was a Morrill County Sheriff’s Deputy for three years. Over the years, he worked for Farm Bureau Insurance and then sold cars at the Ford
dealers in Alliance and Bridgeport.
Bob started his own repair shop, Bob’s Automotive, in Bridgeport in 1981. Health issues forced him into retirement in April 2005.
He served on the Bridgeport City Council, was president of the Eagles Club and a Trustee at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He has been a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church for the last several years. He enjoyed following politics and reading. He took great pride in his kids and grandkids. He recently commented that he had the best wife anyone could ask for.
Bob married Frances Treblik on November 5, 1960. The couple had three children together; daughters Kris and Sheri and a son, Robb. To a previous marriage was born a son, Jeff and a daughter, Barb.
He is survived by his wife, Frances and his five children; Kris (Justin) Williams of Broken Bow, Sheri Zapp and Robb (Sharlyn) Zapp, all of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff Zapp of Enid, OK and Barb Phillips of Dallas, TX; eight grandkids; Jared, Colton and Kylie Williams; Tatum, Megan and Emma Zapp; Lindsay (Ryan) Mathewson and Ashley Phillips and four great grandchildren; MaKayla, Mackenzie, Karter and Hayden. He is also survived by a brother, Walter (Enid) Zapp of McCook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Otto Zapp and his wife Lois of Ord, NE and sister Betty Stein of Pasadena, CA.
