

Paul A. "Mr. B" Buttitta, age 87. Born on April 29, 1924. Entered Eternal Life on September 10, 2011. Beloved husband and dearest friend of Bernice (nee Schmidt) for 62 cherished years. Loving dad of Kenneth (Cindy), Judith (Terry) Lanza-Dykstra, Patrice (John) Keller, Susan (Jeffrey) Schmidt, and Steven (Laurie). Much loved “Pa” or Grandpa to Jared and Nathan Buttitta, Eric (Kate) Lanza, Lori Lanza, Gregory (Kirsten) Lanza, Jesse (Angela) Dykstra, Erin Dykstra, Timothy, Douglas, and Daniel Keller, Adam and Alexandria Schmidt, and Stephanie Gehrke. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Brother of Nick (the late Marion), Grace (Joseph) Foti, the late Peter (Dolores), and the late Frank (Dolores). Also preceded in death by parents Andrew and Petrina (nee Crupi). Brother-in-law of LaVerne (the late Emil) Leuzinger, the late Dolores (the late Keith) McGarvey, the late Leonard (the late Pat) Schmidt, Ronald (Sandra) Schmidt, Barbara (Thomas) Braun, the late Marilyn Toth, Laurel (Robert) Kult, and special life-long friend and traveling companion of Audrey and Al. Also survived and loved by many nephews, nieces, and friends. Paul was a charter member of St. Bernadette Catholic Parish, a lifetime honorary member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and for 25 years was the custodian for the parish and school. To the hundreds of students who shared their school days with him he was, and still is, known as “Mr. B”. Paul served in WWII in the Company M 35th Infantry, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, as a Heavy Machine Gunner. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Horizon Home Care and Hospice for the gentle way they cared for Paul. Paul passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation Thursday, September 15, 5-7 PM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 8200 W. Denver Ave. Visitation also Friday, September 16, 9:30-10:45 AM at the Church with a Funeral Mass Friday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated.
