Alan would always stop and chat whenever I encountered him whether playing pickle ball or running into him at the grocery store. Many hugs to the family and hold in to all the memories.

Alan was a son a husband father uncle cousin zady father in law and more but to us he was a great friend. We will always remember his hospitality when we came to cascade lakes and nantasket beach . Also the memory of our trip to Israel together. May you rest in peace

Alan was not just a friend he was a shining star in our community of Cascade Lakes. His loss leaves a huge hole in our hearts and in the fabric of the community. Alan always took an active role in our community from founding and leading Sunday morning bike rides to co-chairing our recreation committee to make our golden years more enjoyable for all.

His smiling face, friendly disposition and service to our community will be missed by all.

Howard and I are so saddened by Alan’s passing. He was  a good friend and neighbor. He was one of the first people we met at Cascade Lakes and he introduced us to the hike and bike club. I bonded with Alan immediately when we discovered similar career paths.  It’s especially sad that he who spent his career providing help and comfort to others had to suffer so much pain at the end of his life. We will cherish our friendship with Alan and always picture him smiling at the pool. May his memory be for a blessing.

Alan was gracious, kind and friendly. Always a pleasure to be in his company whether it was at the pool, on a Sunday Bike Ride or on the pickleball court.  We were blessed for having known and interacted with Alan.

Oh what a night… we all shared great memories together. 
Alan was a joy to have for a friend. He was a warm & wonderful person.

We will miss his enthusiasm playing water volleyball. He was definitely a team leader. 

His musical knowledge was extensive. He was a big fan of The Doors Jim Morrison.  Memories of seeing the knock off Doors was a great highlight in our social fun night.

We will miss our dear friend, Alan Chates. What a great guy!! We missed him this summer in MA, but we will say our goodbyes to him at his funeral this Thursday.  May he rest in peace.

Alan was and always will be a special person in my heart.   Always offering a kind gesture of encouragement in all situations.  He was the first to offer assistance on the grill at our annual July 4th and Labor Day BBQ parties and spent lots of time with us chatting on the beach in Hull.  I will cherish these memories forever.  In addition, Alan and Harriet were both so caring and supportive in welcoming us to Cascade Lakes, encouraging us and our granddaughter on a Sunday morning bike ride and introducing us to others.   His quiet manner and strength will always be an inspiration.  Our family will miss you, Dr. Al.
