Born on January 13, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the cherished daughter of Nathan and Florence Gerson. The values she learned in her parents’ home, love of family, strength, resilience, and deep Jewish pride stayed with her throughout her life.
She married the love of her life, Harvey Friedman, and together they shared more than 50 years of marriage, building a home filled with warmth, humor, and devotion. Harvey predeceased her, and the family takes comfort in knowing they are reunited.
She was the proud and loving mother of two sons, Michael and Alan, and the adoring grandmother of four grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Hannah, and Teddy. Her grandchildren were her greatest blessing.
Throughout her life, she found joy in simple pleasures and cherished traditions. She loved playing cards and canasta, listening to music, and relaxing with her favorite movies and TV shows. These moments brought her comfort, laughter, and connection with the people she loved.
She made homes in New Jersey, Florida, and, for the past 13 years, at North Hill in Needham, Massachusetts, where she lived close to her children and grandchildren. Being near family was one of her greatest pleasures in her later years.
She leaves behind a legacy rooted in the Jewish values she lived by family, compassion, perseverance, and love. Her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the generations she nurtured.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, January 8, at 2:30 PM, at Beit Olam Cemetery, 60 Old Sudbury Road, Wayland, MA.
Shiva will be held following services, at North Hill Retirement Community, 865 Central Avenue, Needham from 5-8 PM.
