Barbara Berman Rosenblatt passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 94 years.
Barbara was born in Dorchester, MA, on August 25, 1931, to Elsie Daub Berman and Hyman “Hy” Berman. Upon graduating from Jeremiah Burke High School in 1948, she attended the Boston School of Occupational Therapy and Tufts University, where she was a competitive swimmer.
Barbara met her husband, Dr. Seymour “Sy” Rosenblatt, while training in Worcester, MA, and they married in June 1952. The first two years of their marriage were spent in Roswell, New Mexico, where Seymour served as an Air Force flight surgeon. They moved to Manhattan two years later, where their sons David, Will, and Peter were born. In 1963, the family moved to the suburb of Ardsley, New York.
Barbara managed Sy’s psychiatric office as the business administrator for over 30 years. During their 54 years of marriage, the couple traveled extensively throughout the world.
In 2003, Barbara and Sy moved to Delray Beach, Florida. Following Sy’s passing in 2006, Barbara remained in Florida, where she enjoyed swimming, tennis, golf, and playing Mahjong and Canasta. She was also deeply involved in fundraising for various charitable organizations. In 2014, she moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA, to be near family and childhood friends.
Barbara is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Berman; her three sons and their spouses—David and Vân, Will and Jeanne, and Peter and Marcia; her six grandchildren—Hannah, Jesse, Ben, Isabel, Emmaline, and Jason; her great-grandson, Finn, and her lifelong friend, Marina Chuva.
Services will be held at the Sharon Memorial Chapel, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA, on Monday, June 1, at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, mother, father, her brothers, Bernard and Marvin, and her sister-in-law, Lois.
