Bruce W. Hershfield

Bruce W. Hershfield of Staten Island, NY, formerly of Bay Village, Boston and Takoma Park, MD on Monday, August 10, 2015. Beloved husband of Ronna for 44 years. Dear brother of the late Michael; loving uncle to David, Elyse, Dawn, Lauren, Martin, Aaron and Ted. Adoring great uncle of Makenzie and Kylie.

Bruce graduated from Northeastern in Economics and earned his MA at UMass McCormack School of Public Policy. He dedicated himself to advocacy for local, national, and international child welfare, was Director of SMOC Day Care, Office for Children, Executive Director of South Shore Day Care, Child Care Director of Child Welfare League of America, and Assistant Commissioner of Administration of Children’s Services for NYC. He led a US-India exchange on advocacy for children in both countries. While he thoroughly enjoyed traveling, training, and team building strategic partnerships with others committed to making social and educational opportunities for children and families, he remained closely connected to Boston.

Services in the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon on Thursday, August 13, at 2:00pm.
