
Burton "Bud" Elliott, 87 of Newton, MA, passed away on December 12, 2013 after a struggle with cancer. Bud was born in Boston and raised in Brookline. He was a proud graduate and supporter of Dartmouth College, class of 1948. Bud began his career at Jewelsmith’s International in Boston before relocating to New York City in 1961. He returned to Newton in the early 1980s and also spent much time at his second home in the Berkshires. Bud was a successful businessman, avid photographer, champion of the environment and proud alumnus and supporter of Dartmouth College.
He was the son of the late Edward & Sade Goldstein of Brookline. Loving father of Richard Elliott & his wife Carrie Lim of Singapore, John Elliott of Colorado and Lisa Elliott of New Jersey. Cherished brother of Alma Tarlow & brother-in-law of the late Merton Tarlow of Boston. Beloved life partner of Michele Waldman of Newton. Dear step-father to Michele’s children, Mara & Douglas Van Vorst of New York; and Andrew & Emily Waldman of Georgia. Caring grandparent to Michele’s grandchildren, Emma, Jacob and Ethan Van Vorst; Lilly and Alexander Waldman.
Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline, on Sunday, December 15 at 1:30PM. Interment following at Shara Tfilo Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury. Memorial observance at Bud and Michele’s residence following the interment through 7PM and Monday from 2-5PM and 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Nature Conservancy, The Hood Museum at Dartmouth College, The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Brandeis University or Congregation Ahavath Sholom (Great Barrington, MA).
