Celia L. "Cindy" Lombardo, of Wayland, lost her battle with cancer on Friday, January 12, 2018. Beloved wife to Dennis of 36 years, loving mother of Jessica Bigge and her husband Rich, David Lombardo and Matthew Lombardo. Daughter of Joel and the late Ruth Leavitt, and sister to Amy Leavitt and her husband Ralph Malerba. Cindy received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Simmons College and her masters in counseling psychology from Boston College. Cindy never wasted a minute and every moment of her life was spent teaching, loving, fixing, building, giving and helping. Cindy created community everywhere she went and touched the lives of so many. From her hometown of Wayland where she was instrumental in rebuilding the schools, enriching the METCO program, and supporting the scholarship fund to Temple Shir Tikva where the Jewish community filled her soul to the Menauhant Cape Cod community where she spent her summers on the water and in the garden, this was her most cherished place to Waveland, Mississippi where she helped rebuild a community after hurricane Katrina and brought hope to so many in need and the American Cancer Society and the Hope Lodge, where she spent countless hours volunteering and giving back. This past year Cindy was awarded the St. George National Volunteerism Award for making a significant impact in the cancer community. Cindy’s greatest joy was her family and children. From cooking to traveling to giving back they did everything together. Cindy will be remembered by her generous spirit, unwavering optimism, selflessness and being a cheerleader for all things that change the world.
