David Adelson of Boston, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022 at the age of 90. Of the many things that David loved—tennis, ice cream, and playing cards—above all was his love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Adelson; his daughter Jennifer Mitty and her husband Roger; his three grandchildren, Sarah, Abby, and Andrew; and his brother, Jonathan Adelson. He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Mildred Adelson, and his sister, Deborah Spear. David was born in Newport, RI, and enjoyed spending summers there after settling down in Brookline, MA, where he served as a member of town meeting for many years. He graduated from Tufts University in 1952 with a degree in History and received his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1954. Later in life he attended Suffolk University Law School and received his J.D. in 1981. David served as the acting Chief of the Office of the Comptroller in the U.S. Army in Mannheim, Germany. He then went on to dedicate the majority of his career to leading and expanding his family business, Louis Taber and Son, Inc., as President. David was an active member of his community and served as President of the Board at both Boston Children’s Theatre and Newton Squash and Tennis Club. He served as a court appointed mediator well into his 80’s and was honored by the Bar Association of Norfolk County for the work he did. He also stayed connected with Tufts University, serving as a visiting lecturer in Business Law. David’s twinkling eye and warm smile will be missed and remembered. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David’s honor to Hebrew Senior Life or the United States Tennis Association Foundation. A graveside ceremony will take place at Sharon Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 22 at 11:45am.
