

David A. Gross of Sudbury, on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Beloved husband of Judith (Segal) Gross for 41 years. Cherished father of Susan Hamilton & her husband Jess of Boston, Barry A. Gross of South Dartmouth, and Michael B. Gross & his wife Dr. Anna Weber Kneitel of Ann Arbor, MI. Adored grandpa of Layla Grace Hamilton and Henry Weber Gross. Dear brother of the late Dr. Barry Gross and his surviving former wife Sara Halman, and brother-in-law of Jane Bradley & her husband Nat of Gouldsboro, ME. Fond uncle to his nieces Miriam Shulman of Scardsdale, NY and Dr. Amy Kotler of Morristown, NJ and great uncle to several nieces and nephews.
David went to M.I.T; after graduating he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as a software engineer for 40 years and earned several patents. His career began so early in Digital’s history that his badge number was under 1,000. He later worked at COMPAQ and ended his career working at Intel. David was an accomplished trombonist, a passion of his since grade school. He played in the M.I.T. band, the L/S Civic Orchestra and the Hudson Community band. He is also a very enthusiastic bridge player and played in many ACBL bridge tournaments. This past summer he achieved over 1,000 master points. Earlier in his life, he performed in several Gilbert and Sullivan operas and in many local musicals such as Pajama Game, South Pacific and Of Thee I Sing. His most devoted companion is Teddy, the family’s 14 year old Maltese whose favorite spot was always David’s lap. David and Judy have been members of Congregation Beth El for over thirty years. David participated in Rabbi Thomas’ weekly Torah study every Saturday morning.
Services will take place at Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury River Valley, 105 Hudson Road, Sudbury on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with burial to follow at New Town Cemetery, Sudbury. Memorial observance will be at the Gross residence Thursday evening 7-9:00pm, Friday 2-4:00pm, Saturday evening 7-9:00pm, and Sunday 2-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury River Valley, c/o Rabbi’s Fund or a charity of your choice.
