

David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda Matchan, and his beloved children Solomon, of Toronto, and Sara of Boston. Also survived by his mother Deborah Israel, siblings Susan Kliffer and husband Frank, Gary Israel and wife Alison, Cydney Israel, and Judi Israel, all of whom reside in Canada.
The oldest of five children, born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. David attended medical school at the University of Manitoba and moved to Boston with his wife Linda to pursue a Masters degree and then Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at MIT. He went on to study radiology and nuclear medicine, becoming a staff physician in the Department of Imaging and the Division of Nuclear Medicine at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He was also an Assistant Professor in Radiology at Harvard Medical School.
He enjoyed spending time in nature, fixing anything that was broken, teaching his Radiology residents and fellows, and the satisfaction of a job well done. He will be remembered for his humor, his intelligence, and his love for his family and friends
Services at Temple Beth Avodah, 45 Puddingstone Lane, Newton on Sunday January 26 at 1:00PM. Burial at the Workman's Circle Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury. Following burial, family and friends are welcome to return to Temple Beth Avodah through 5PM. Memorial observance to continue at his late residence from 7-8:30PM and on Monday and Tuesday from 1-4PM and 7-9PM with a minyan prayer service at 7PM each evening. Please omit flowers.
