Diane Rochelle Gordon, age 82, passed away peacefully at her Brookline home on December 1, 2024.
Diane was born in Queens, New York, and lived in Patchogue, Long Island before attending Boston University. She went on to receive a master’s degree in French and Spanish at Columbia University, then graduated Boston College Law School in 1972. She practiced law in Boston until her retirement.
In Brookline, Diane served for several decades on the Brookline Zoning Board of Appeals. She also served on the board of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind, becoming the second woman in that institutions’ history to serve as Board President and providing critical leadership to the organization over more than three decades. She was a Member of the Corporation at the Boston Museum of Science from the mid-80s, then elected to the Board of Trustees, eventually serving as Vice-Chair, then Trustee Emeriti.
Diane was an avid jogger and tennis player, loved the NYT Sunday puzzle (which she completed in ink), sesame bagels from Kupels, and travelling through Italy and France with her friends Judi, Harriet & Ronnie.
She is predeceased by Lloyd Gordon, her adoring husband of 52 years, and leaves behind her sons Bradley, Joshua, Jay, their wives and six grandchildren. Diane’s family extends special gratitude for the care which Harriet Nasaka gave Diane in her final years.
The family will receive visitors at Diane's late residence following the services from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane’s name to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, or the Boston Museum of Science.
