

Eugene S. "Gene" Mittelman, age 97, of Dedham, MA formerly of Willimantic, CT, Bondville, VT and Palm Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021. Born in Middletown, CT on April 11, 1924, to Corinne & Louis Mittelman, a graduate of Wesleyan University, Lieutenant in the US Navy during WWII. Cherished husband of Georgia (Rubin) Mittelman. Devoted father to Joan M. Kraft (Michael) of Framingham, MA, and Ellen M. Potter (Tom) of Rye Brook, NY. Beloved grandfather to Lily and Zachary Kraft, Rachel and Adam Potter, and cherished uncle of Sharon Murphy (Frank) and Marlene Gavens (Larry).
Gene was an avid tennis player and skier and especially loved sharing these activities with his grandchildren. He traveled the world with his wife Georgia. With his infectious sense of humor, Gene delighted in making his family and friends laugh.
Aside from his automobile and real estate business ventures, Gene was active in a number of Willimantic community organizations. He was a former president of Temple B'nai Israel in Willimantic, member of the University of Connecticut (UConn) Foundation, now emeritus, served as chairman of the Windham Memorial Hospital board of directors, first president of Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSC) Foundation and served on the Foundation’s board of trustees, now emeritus, on the board of Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. A philanthropist and business leader, a man of honor and integrity, strength and determination, with a zest for life. His greatest pride came from his family.
Services at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St, Canton, MA on Thursday, October 28 at 10am, followed by burial at Temple B’nai Israel Cemetery at 2pm, located at the junction of CT Route 31 and CT Route 32 in Mansfield, Connecticut.
