
With great sadness, the family of George P. Arlos of Cambridge, MA, announces his death on May 23rd, at the age of 69 after a swift battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Alma Arlos; his aunt, Claire Rosenfield and sister, Dayan Arlos.
George is survived by his beloved daughter Pilar Arlos of Cambridge; his brother Maurice B. Arlos of New York City, NY and his sister Alexa Arlos of Cambridge, MA
George received his undergraduate degree at University of Massachusetts Amherst and attended Harvard University for his Ph.D. He loved film, literature and music.
George was an early proponent of community-based overdose prevention and syringe services programs, and other harm reduction services. He was previously a site coordinator at Cambridge Cares about Aids and Safe Space in Roxbury.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the National Harm Reduction Coalition.
