
Jerry, as he was known, grew up in Hull, MA and graduated from Hingham High School and Boston University School of Management. Jerry was a top hotel executive for high visibility hoteliers. He began at the Hotel Corporation of America running the Somerset Hotel in Boston, MA, the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. and the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and was instrumental in making Eloise part of the marketing program at the Plaza. He ran Howard Johnsons Hotels on the Eastern Seaboard and Sonesta Hotels, notably opening the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and the Royal Sonesta in Key Biscayne, Florida. He then became Executive Vice President of the famed Helmsley and Harley Hotel chain for Harry and Leona Helmsley, including the Helmsley Palace, St. Moritz and Parklane hotels in Manhattan. He later became President of the Beverly Hills Hotel Company/Northview Corporation for Ivan Boesky running the Vagabond Inn chain and upscale hotels in California. Jerry was a turnaround specialist with numerous accolades in the hospitality industry.
Gerald is survived by sons Scott (Melissa) Kadish of Cincinnati, OH and Marc Kadish (Brett Aronne) of Newton, MA; grandsons Ian (Emily) Kadish of Ft. Myers, FL, Kendall Kadish of Cincinnati, OH, Max Kadish of Cincinnati, OH and Cooper Kadish of Cincinnati, OH; great-grandson Knox Kadish of Ft. Myers FL; nieces Janet Swartz (Bud O’Leary) of Andover, MA and Phyllis (Stephen) Hillinger of Delmar, NY; nephews Steven Kadish (Linda Snyder) of Boston, MA and Peter (Christine) Kadish of Coventry, RI; and many grand nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Arnold Kadish, his sister Lilian Swartz and his brother-in-law Eli Swartz.
