hi stan - through a mail connection and my sister jane i just heard about harriet. i think we only met a few times way back when, but do have a sweet and soft memory of you guys. so sorry about her passing.

Have thought quite often about Harriet since our last meeting at DFCI in 2012, and am so sad to read of her passing. I have so many memories of her courage, honesty, and creativity as she struggled to shape her own experience after her initial diagnosis so long ago. She was an extraordinarily beautiful woman in many, many ways. Stan, my heart goes out to you, along with my admiration for having been such a loving, thoroughly supportive partner. Harriet told me on a number of especially tough occasions that you were her rock, and I hope, as time begins to soften the edges of grief someday, that you will always take great comfort in knowing what you were to her.  It was a great honor to have gotten to know Harriet, and to have shared in a part of her journey.  You all remain in my thoughts, and I send you my love, and wish you comfort and peace.

Dear Stan, I just heard and am so sorry. Harriet was a wonderful role model and mentor to me. She was the main person to train me. We facilitated groups together and I took over her groups when she became Clinical Director. I considered her a friend too and we seemed to see things in much the same way. She was so proud of her family. I never went  into the Wellness Community without stopping at her desk to chat and later to exhange photos of our grandchildren. She was a great support and resource when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was a truly outstanding person, which, of course, you know.The memory of so many of her wise comments and just the wonderful person she was will always be with me. My heart goes out to you and your wonderful family.

I was saddened to learn today of Harriet's death, and at the same time happy to have known her and had her support with my own wife's struggle with cancer. I remember too seeing her shopping at Whole Foods with her granddaughter, and my helping you (Stan) as she and others moved out of The Wellness Community site. My condolences and hugs go out to you and all those who had the privilege to know her. She certainly touched my life in a positive way, and I'm sure my experience is just the tip of the iceberg of the legacy that she has left behind. May you find, amidst the loss and pain and tears, some comfort in knowing what a positive impact she had on our world and that many of us share in your loss. She certainly will live on in my memory.

I met Harriet through her work with young women with cancer.  She was a remarkably gifted therapist.  Her warm smile and sparkling eyes immediately embraced you and made you feel welcomed and safe.  She attended every support group fully present and ready to give.  She also sported these super hip glasses which I just adored.  Her passion for her work never seemed to falter – a characteristic that always amazed me.  I was so happy to hear that she had co-founded her own organization - Facing Cancer Together.  Her passing leaves a deep void in the cancer community.  She left us much too soon.  I pray that her family and friends will find some solace in knowing that she was loved, admired and will be missed by many.  Good-bye Harriet.  I will carry you in my heart – always.

We are all richer for having had dear Harriet in our lives.  May the memories of happier times help you Stan, and all the family cope with the sadness we share with you.
