Harris Ira Rosenblatt, a true Brighton original and loving son of the late Gerald and Diana (Grossman) Rosenblatt and cherished nephew of the late Sophie Grossman, passed away on April 21, 2025. Harris famously guarded his privacy like treasure, but once you got past his front gate, he shared his stories like candy. If you were one of the lucky ones who cracked that famously tough nut, you were in.
And what did 'in' mean? It meant knowing exactly what Harris had for lunch (thanks to photographic proof), hearing epic retail adventures (and maybe misadventures?) from his Macy's days, and countless hours spent solving the world's problems (or at least Brighton's) from his prime real estate: the front porch overlooking the park. He could hold court like nobody's business, possessing a unique knack for making you forget where you were headed just to catch the end of a story.
He leaves a porch-shaped hole in the neighborhood and his unique commentary and company will be profoundly missed by his dear friends Mike, Breege, Megan, Kerry, and Mikey Riley, along with countless neighbors and friends.
Join us to celebrate his unique life at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, on April 25th at 10:30am followed by interment at Crawford Street Memorial Park, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury. If you're thinking of flowers, Harris would likely prefer a donation in his memory to Congregation Kadimah-Toras Moshe, 113 Washington St., Brighton, MA 02135.
