Jack Harrison Wolk

Jack Harrison Wolk, Of Acton, Massachusetts and Boynton Beach, Florida, aged 89 years, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 28, 2011 after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of Samuel and Rose (Goodman) Wolk.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years Gussie (Sheinhite) Wolk, his adored daughters Laurie Wolk Shea and son-in-law Rob of Burlington, MA and Bonnie Wolk Ober of Acton, MA. Adored as "Poppy" by his grandchildren he leaves behind: Joshua, Danielle, Jarrett, and Jordan whose lives were made special by his unconditional love. Survived also by his twin brother Alvin Wolk of Pacific Palisades, CA, and younger brother Milton Wolk of Randolph, MA. Jack is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews.

Jack was an accomplished golfer who had the easiest "swing" and right up to his final days shot his age. He played AAA baseball and hockey in his youth, rode motorcycles in Europe during the war, and played the saxophone and clarinet with the Pete Cutler Orchestra in Boston. He owned and ran General Plumbing Supply Company in Waltham for over 50 years; during which he was a WWII veteran, a proud member of both the Jewish War Veteran and the Knights of Pythias. He was also a lifelong member of Temple Beth Israel in Waltham where his grandfather Aaron was a founding member, and Temple Emanuel in Newton.

The family invites all who knew and loved Jack to share in a celebration of his life on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Temple Beth Elohim, 133 Prospect St., Acton, MA at 12 Noon. Interment service with Military Honors to follow at Temple Beth Israel Memorial Park in Waltham.

Memorial observances will be held in the home of Bonnie Wolk Ober in Acton on Monday from 3 to 8pm and Tuesday from 4 to 8.
