James Ellis Elgart

James Ellis Elgart, “Jimmy” of Newton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 24, 2025.

Beloved son of the late Kenneth D. & Judith (née Ellis) Elgart. Loving husband of Gisele (née Chartrand) Elgart for 27 years. Loving father of Sophie Elgart of Los Angeles, CA & Isabelle Elgart of Boston, MA. Dear brother of Donna Elgart Medoff & her husband David of Newton and Uncle to Jacob Medoff & Robin Medoff both of Atlanta, GA. Devoted nephew of Sylvia (née Ellis) Gorin. Devoted son-in-law of Stella (née Tellier) Chartrand & the late Clement Chartrand, dear brother-in-law to Helene and Dale Kitching and uncle to Denver and Chloe Kitching all of Sturgeon Falls Ontario. He is also survived by loving cousins and countless friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by loving grandparents, aunts, and cousins.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Newton, MA, graduating from Newton North, Boston University and Tulane. While obtaining his MBA in New Orleans, he honed his cooking skills and met the love of his life, Gisele. They moved back to Newton, settling in the house where he was raised, continuing the traditions of his family by opening their home to family and friends from near and far.

Jim will be remembered for his intelligence, compassion and generosity of spirit which was bestowed on all who entered his realm.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
