Jerome "Jerry" Spivak

Jerry Spivak, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 89. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carol, his loving children, Wendy Spivak and her husband Biff Shea, and Paul Spivak and his wife Ana Nunes Spivak, as well as his cherished grandson, Collin McMahon Shea. He was the son of the late Jack and Anne Spivak.

Jerry’s greatest joy in life was his family, and his love for them was boundless—they were always at the center of his world.

For 68 years, Jerry and Carol shared a marriage that was a true partnership, filled with love, laughter, unwavering devotion, and countless adventures. They were inseparable and did everything together.

Born and raised in the Bronx of New York City, Jerry grew up in a time that demanded resilience and toughness—qualities he carried throughout his life. He attended City College of New York on academic achievement, where he joined ROTC and later served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. His time in the military helped shape his character, instilled a deep sense of purpose and camaraderie, and left him with one of his favorite sayings: "Prior planning prevents piss poor performance."

A driven biochemist, Jerry moved from New Jersey to Massachusetts for work, landing in Framingham where the family lived for more than 50 years. Here, he built a successful career. He was as smart as a whip, inventive, and motivated— qualities that led him to develop a specialized adhesive, which he successfully sold for years. He worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life for his family, dedicating time to mastering the stock market and making smart investments to secure their future.

But Jerry’s life wasn’t just about work—he knew how to live it to the fullest. He and Carol traveled extensively with friends, creating memories in destinations near and far. He was a passionate sports fan, cheering on the Patriots and Celtics, whether from the stands or with friends gathered around the TV. He was an avid tennis and golf player, and he and Carol even won dance competitions together.

Some of Jerry’s happiest memories were made during family vacations with extended family, whether on the Cape, in the Catskills, or at his parents' home in Peekskill, NY, where many memorable traditions were created. He had a special way of making people feel important, often giving loved one’s nicknames—a small but meaningful way of showing his affection.

Among the many cherished companions who filled his life with love, his dog Peggy held a particularly special place in his heart. Originally his son Paul’s dog, Peggy became Jerry’s trusted sidekick when Paul left for college, and their bond was inseparable.

Jerry’s intelligence, humor, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will be deeply missed. His legacy of strength, kindness, and love will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
