

Judi was born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late David and Sylvia (Pollack) Kaplan. She graduated from Brookline High School in 1963, then Nursing school.
She graduated from The Bryman School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for a private Dr. for Years before switching to the insurance industry where her nursing skills helped her with handling medical claims.
Although from the Boston area, she set roots in Framingham, MA where she raised 3 Children. Later in life she retired and moved to Winterville, NC where she loved driving to the beach and just relaxing and enjoying the water. She absolutely loved casinos, driving up to New England to see friends and family. Her most favorite thing in the world however, was being Nana. She became a nana for the first time in 1994 with the arrival of Taran Kristi, Then 1996 With Kenneth Duke, 1998 with Tyler Kenneth, in 1999 with Emily Morgan and finally Nathaniel Essex in 2019. She became a great nana in 2017 with Hayden Kenneth and again in 2021 with Giovanni Tyler. Nothing in life made her happier than being nana to them.
Judi was predeceased by her first child, Elyse Beth Probst in 2021. She is survived by her son, Larry Probst and his wife Tanya Probst from Southington, CT, her son, Ira Probst and his wife Kandace Probst and son, Nathaniel from Winterville, NC, Her granddaughter, Taran Douyard and husband Frank Douyard with her great grandsons, Hayden and Giovanni from Cape Coral FL, her granddaughter, Emily Probst and boyfriend Harvey Villalva from Connecticut, her sister, Gayle Mclean and husband Daniel Mclean from Lewes, DE, nieces, Stephanie Mclean Villano from California, Dayna Martin and Husband Samuel and Judis great nephew and niece, Sammy and Sylvia from Maryland, her brother, Eliot Kaplan and his wife Linda Kaplan from Brookline, MA with nephews, Scott Kaplan and his wife Karen Sevich Myers from NH and Jefferey Kaplan from Maine. Several other nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., Brookline, MA at 10:00 AM on Wednesday May 27, 2026 followed by burial at Lake Grove Cemetery, Highland St. in Holliston, MA. We will be holding a Shiva from 4:00 PM-9:00 PM at the home of Barry and Patricia Probst. In lieu of Flowers consider donations to the American Kidney Foundation: give.kidneyfund.org
