

It is with great sadness and love, the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Lana Reeves, of Somerville, MA, formerly of New York City, formerly of Charleston, WV, following a 9 year battle with cancer, at 9:15 a.m. on the morning of August 4th, 2013, her 72nd birthday.
Lana is survived by her daughters, Lacey Astra Beckley (Reeves), of Boston, MA, and Maya-Bella Reeves, of Austin, TX; her grandchildren, Reeves Thomas Beckley, Eli Owen Pegalis and Audrey Rae Pegalis; and her cats, Harley Quinn (aka Lolli), Sammy, Simon and Stevie Ray.
Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Reeves Lewenthal (founder of Associated American Artists) and Elinor Lewenthal (Davidson).
A fierce individualist and wildly adventurous, Lana wore many hats; A renowned photojournalist, her photographs were published in National Geographic and numerous others, Civil Rights Activist, War Protester, World Traveler, Psychologist, Potter, Astrologer, and Cat Rescuer, is to name but a few.
A graduate of the Stockbridge School in 1959, Lana attained her Master's degree in Psychology from Cambridge College in the 1980s.
The family wishes to thank the friends, relatives and caregivers, too numerous to list, as well as the many associations with whom Lana shared her passions; Vietnam Veterans Against the War, National Geographic, World Wildlife Federation, Amnesty International, The National Council for Geocosmic Research, Mudflat Potters Association, Haystack Mountain School and the Meezer Express (Siamese Rescue).
