Lester Philip Yanowitz

Lester Philip Yanowitz, Age 89, of Punta Gorda, FL, died Sunday, July 9, 2023 in the Tidewell Hospice Home in Port Charlotte, FL. Born in Dorchester, MA on July 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Irving and Ida (Berenson) Yanowitz. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Mazur) Yanowitz & Phyllis Harris.

Lester was raised and educated in Dorchester and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology (1953) and Northeastern University. Lester worked at Beacon Construction Company for 25-years, then Bowdoin Construction Corp. for 15-years, where he served as President until he retired in 1993. He was a recipient of Wentworth Institute of Technology's Gold Leopard Award, presented to an individual with long-term commitment and outstanding loyalty to Wentworth, the community, the state, and the nation.

He loved being with his family and friends, spending time at his summer home in Ogunquit, ME, bowling and playing golf. He was a very good softball player, pitching and playing first base.

He was an AVID Red Sox fan.

Lester is survived by his son, Irwin Yanowitz and his wife Ellen Role of Brookline, his grandson, Zachary Yanowitz and his wife Claire Jordan of Denver, CO, his partner, Janet Holliday of Punta Gorda, FL, his brother-in-law, Richard Fagan of Boynton Beach, FL, his niece, Niece Lisa Crouser of Wilbraham, MA and his nephew, Edward Fagan of North Providence, RI.

Lester was preceded in death by his daughters, Lois and Elaine Yanowitz and his sister, Saralyn Fagan.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 in the Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St. Sharon, MA at 10:45 AM. Rabbi Judith Kummer will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather behind the administrative building to form a procession prior to the service time.
