

Lois (Gershman) Gutman of Mashpee, formerly of Framingham and Worcester, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014. Devoted wife of Michael Gutman, devoted mother of Ellen Kobus & her husband Andreas, Jill Schoenfuss & her husband West, Jodi Martin & her partner Bobby Brown, Melissa Cole & her partner Tim Cole, and her son-in-law William Donlin. Cherished bubbe of Aaron and Rachel Donlin, Ariana and Danah Schoenfuss, Jared and Hayley Martin, Diandra and Joshua Doppler, Joseph Cole and loving aunt of Mark and Jennifer Teicher. Lois was an extremely outgoing person with a winning smile and a huge circle of friends. She was very active in both community and religion. She was a Brownie leader, American Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, co-Chairman of the Temple Beth Am Youth Commission and past president of its Sisterhood. She was very active at the local, regional and national levels of the Union of Reform Judaism. She was one of the first two women elected to the Board of Hebrew Union College. At Cape Cod Synagogue she was past Financial Secretary and member of the Board of Trustees. Her major interests over the years were her children, grandchildren, classical music, reading, knitting, torah study and was a black belt shopper.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8 at 11:00AM at Cape Cod Synagogue, 145 Winter Street, Hyannis MA. Interment will follow at Beit Olam Cemetery, 60 Old Sudbury Road, Wayland at 2:00PM. Memorial observance will be held immediately following interment at the home of Jodi Martin and continuing on Tuesday, December 9 from 7-9:00PM.
Memorial observance will continue at her late residence on Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11 from 7-9:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Sissewein Food Pantry or the David and Dora Hasckel Campership Fund, c/o Cape Cod Synagogue, 145 Winter Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
