Marcia S. (Smolin) Bachman, 91, a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Saturday August 2, 2025. She was married to the late Albert Bachman for 42 years. Marcia was born in the Bronx and grew up in New York City with her parents Leah Smolin and Joseph Smolin and sister Rowie Mandel, who are all deceased. She leaves behind her daughters, Jeanne Bachman Scarlatos and her husband Andy Scarlatos, Ina Bachman and her husband Eli Wylen, and with her two granddaughters Sivahn Sapirstein and Alix Scarlatos.
Marcia had a strong passion for music and was an accomplished vocal musician and teacher. As a singer, her voice was heard at concerts, musical programs and schools throughout the area. She was an active member of the Temple Beth Am Choir in Framingham where she was a member and soloist for over 60 years. She participated in the professional women’s music fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota. For many years she was actively involved as a choir member and soloist for Koleihnu Jewish Choral Group.
In addition to being a musician, Marcia was also an established Special Education Teacher for over 40 years. She received a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and Master’s in Education from Framingham State University. She touched many lives as a special education teacher in the Southborough School System from 1974-1992. She brought music into the classroom through her “Learning through Music” program.
A graveside funeral be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:30 am at the Framingham Natick Jewish Cemetery, 40 Fairview Ave, Natick, MA.
