Marjorie G. Levitan

She was born in New Rochelle, New York to Ida Wachstein Geller originally of Poland, and Max A Geller originally from Austria who were pre deceased. She was also pre deceased by her older brother Jack Geller and his wife Sue of La Jolla, California.

Marjorie is survived by her sister Harriet Greenfield and her husband Michael, and Genevive Wyner and her husband Justin. She is also survived by her five children Susan Brody, Bruce Brody and his partner Nancy, David Brody and his wife Anna Marie, Joanne Brody and her partner Jim, and Peter Brody and his wife Karen. Marjorie also has two step daughters Jan Kelley and her dear friend Bill Fisher, and Claire Odell and her husband Peter. Marjorie has twelve grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless dear friends.

Marjorie graduated from New Rochelle High School and went on to receive a degree as an English Major from Mount Holyoke College. She raised five children before returning to school to achieve a master’s degree in Rehabilitation counseling from Northeastern University in her fifties.

Her first job after her master’s graduation was as the assistant to Judge Edith Fine of the Brookline Courts where she developed the alcohol counseling program for drunk driving referrals in the court system. She then took her passion for helping people and started her own counseling business in Wayland Mass known as the Levitan Family Institute. After several years of being very successful she decided to retire to spend more time with her husband and extended family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 12 Noon from the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will be sitting Shiva on Wednesday July 20th 2016 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at her daughter Joanne’s residence at 15 Trailside Way, Ashland MA 01721.
