Our beloved Mark Allen Mayzer passed away in the early hours of Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 81 with his loved ones by his side. Mark was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Newton, where he met his wife of more than 54 years.
Mark loved his family deeply and was a devoted husband to his wife, Sydney Ann (Robinson) Mayzer. He was a generous and caring father to Roni Mayzer and her husband John, Michael Mayzer, and Beth Crenshaw and her husband Mike. Mark’s children always felt his unconditional love. He was enormously proud of his two much loved grandsons, Tyler Crenshaw and Chase Mayzer. He is also survived by his brother David Mayzer and his wife Marilyn, his stepsister Amy McGuire and her husband Mark, and his nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Additionally, Mark is survived by his adored four-legged family members: Mark and Sydney’s recently rescued dog Boodreux and his granddogs, Mickie and Jessie.
Mark and his family proudly owned and ran Home Hardware in Allston and Boston for many years. Following its closure, he worked for The Home Depot just shy of 28 years. Mark was immensely proud of his work on the overnight freight crew, and it was a point of pride that, at 81, he worked hard, through full-time hours, right up to his hospitalization in January. Beyond the job itself, he sincerely enjoyed the friends he made at The Home Depot through the years.
Mark was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa. He led a meaningful life, always trying to help – guided by his good heart, honesty, and strong work ethic. His family could always depend on him to help with projects around the house. He relished any opportunity to pass on these skills to his grandsons, whether on household projects or at Kids Workshops at The Home Depot. He enjoyed working in the yard and garden, dedicating time to finding ways to beautify his outdoor space. Mark was especially fond of Halloween and took great pleasure in not only decorating the front yard for the holiday but trying to improve and add on from year to year. He loved seeing and hearing the children’s reactions as they Trick or Treated.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Irving Mayzer, as well as his stepmother Louise Mayzer.
The family would like to thank Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our loved one over the past month and in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA, on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:45am.
