Mildred R. "Millie" Chaves Harris

For 47 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Lester "Lefty" Harris. Loving mother of Paula “Debbie” Mozes & her husband Jack Mozes of Falmouth & Delray Beach, FL and Richard Lee Harris & his wife Catherine O'Connell Harris of Bethesda, MD. Adored grandmother of Sarah Dussault of Needham, Laura Cutler of New York City, Emily Rose Harris of Minneapolis, Susannah Mae Harris of New Haven, and Lily Kate Harris of Washington, D.C. and “Nana” of Lyla Dussault, Eli Dussault, Pasha Cutler and Chloe Cutler. Dear sister of Jonas Chaves of Swampscott and the late Doris Newman and Shirley Covner.

The daughter of the late Ida (Kessler) and Samuel Chaves and a native New Yorker, she moved as a young child to Swampscott where she graduated from Swampscott High School in 1940. During World War II, she worked in Boston for the Department of the Army. Active in her synagogue, she served as Vice President of the Temple Beth El Sisterhood and was a Life Member of Hadassah. She loved playing golf, Mah Jongg, Canasta and watching Red Sox games.

Graveside services at the Shirat Hayam of the North Shore Cemetery (Temple Beth El section), 530 Lowell St., Peabody on Monday, May 15 at 12:00 noon.
