Muriel Schnider, of Brookline, MA, entered into rest on January 26th at the age of 94. Dear daughter of the late Morris and Sarah Freid, and beloved wife of the late Herbert Schnider. Preceded in death by her loving brothers and sisters Edith, Bobbi, Toby, Nathan, Manuel, and Herbert. Devoted mother of Stuart Schnider and his wife Elizabeth, Mark Schnider, and Robin Lynn Polansky. Cherished grandmother of Marisa Rosen (Adam), Rachel Stempler (Matt), Meredith Nichols (Scott), Calla Hales (Dave), Joseph Schnider and Emily Schnider. Proud great-grandmother of Levi Rosen and Ellen Elizabeth Stempler. Muriel was proud of being the spelling champion of Dorchester High School her senior year. She helped in the World War II effort as a riveter in the Boston Naval Shipyard. After the war, she worked for Sears Roebuck in the Accounting Department, rising to the position of Auditor. During this time, she married Herbert Schnider and left her career to raise their family. Muriel was most proud of taking care of her husband as he developed a progressive and debilitating illness. She managed to attend to all of his medical needs, raised her family, and began a second career at Harvard Community Health Plan, where she selflessly aided other families so that they received the care they needed. Muriel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest pleasure in her last few months was spending time with her great-grandchildren Levi and Ellie. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28 at 11:30 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., BROOKLINE. Interment will follow at Dorchester Hebrew Helping Hand Cemetery in Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Muriel’s memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc/donate
