Bruce and I are so sorry for your loss.  We were Rashi parents at the same time, and we'll always be grateful for Murray's support of Rashi sports when there were no Rashi sports.  We appreciated his quiet, kind and smiling presence on the sidelines at basketball and soccer games, and always enjoyed talking with him.  We send our condolences to your entire family.

I went to high school with Murray.   I probably got to know him best in our preparations for our last two reunions (45th and 50th).  So many class members and I are so saddened to hear of Murray's passing.   I was so glad he attended our virtual reunion last summer, due to covid.  So many people have remembered Murray as kind and brilliant along with the his wonderful smile.

May the memories and strength of family and friends turn this bitter time to bittersweet and then into sweet memories.   My thoughts are with you.

We are so saddened for the loss of your father.  I can recall his soft-spoken voice during the many side-line conversations we had over the years,  making it so easy to engage in with him.  On many occasions, your parents opened up their home and  warmly welcomed us  to many holiday celebrations and get togethers.  Your dad's passion for the Rashi Rams basketball program and his enthusiasm for always trying to improve it can not be forgotten.

I’m terribly saddened by Murray’s death. From the moment my family moved across  the street from the Sackmans in 1967 until well  into our thirties, Murray and I were very close friends. Even though our orbits intersected less in later life, I managed to see Murray at least annually and communicate more often.  I had the great good luck to attend both Michael and Elliot’s Bar Mitzvahs. 

I loved Murray a lot, for many decades, for the vast majority of our lives. His passing leaves an enormous, Murray-sized void, in my life and heart.  May his memory be a blessing for us all. 

I am at such a loss without my dear friend Murray. We spoke all the time and he was so brilliant, I learned so much every time we spoke.  He was a man of the highest integrity and decency. You could trust him with anything. They broke the mold when they made Murray.  I know he will be looking over all of us and his memory will truly be a blessing to all who knew him. Rest In Peace my dear friend as you touch the face of God.

     At times like this, it is tough to understand why our loved ones are taken from us prematurely.  Your father's counsel and grace must be needed elsewhere, as that can be the only reasonable explanation.
     I have worked with your dad the last 2.5 years and every one of our conversations ended with him talking about you both and how he wanted to see you more often and spend quality time with you.  Please know that you were always at the top of his mind, even if it may not have always seemed that way.
     Your father was just a friend to so many, and he was admired for his ability to listen and provide a comforting word.  Hopefully, you are comforted in knowing that he was a good man with good intentions, and a tremendous amount of love in his heart.

We are so sad and sorry for your loss. We have so many warm memories of your dad - and of your parent's home - being open & welcoming  for celebrations - over the years. We will always remember your dad for his passion for coaching - and his unsurpassed commitment to the Rashi basketball team. He made sure that everyone on the team played their best. He was extremely invested in the team and so generous with his time. But above all - what was most obvious over the years  was his deep love for the two of you - and how proud he was of you.

Dear Michael, Elliot and family,

Murray and I were Brandeis classmates and Newton residents of many years. As the person who chairs our reunions, I've come to spend a lot of time with Murray as an adult. We would frequently meet for breakfast before we got on with the rest of our day. I appreciated the great conversations on wide-ranging topics, but always, his love of his sons was at the top of the list. I will miss him very much. May his memory be a blessing. Our condolences to Michael and Elliot and the rest of Murray’s family. David and I have known Murray since high school and remained  touch over the years but grew closer in the last 10 years. We enjoyed a fabulous trip to Cuba together and many fine meals - including the salmon that he and Elliot caught. Murray’s keen intellect, passion for justice, love of music and dance, and generous spirit served as an example of how to live. We will remember that even as his physical  presence is gone from us. May his memory comfort you all.

Michael and Elliot, we are so sorry for the loss of your Dad, who was such an important part of the Rashi Kehilah. Not only was he a devoted and caring father, Murray cared deeply about Rashi and helping to grow the school into what it is today. Your Dad was a coach for many Rashi students and was instrumental in starting the Rashi sports teams.

It is with great sadness that I mourn the loss of your Dad.  I worked with Murray since joining NXDC in 2018 and to me, he was always a kind and gentle man, willing to coach and mentor at any time.  Murray was always the calm in the storms and it is that quality that made him stand out from the rest and one that I will miss the most.

Of all the conversations we had over the years, the ones that stood out the most was when he spoke about his two boys,  he was so very proud of you both

Dear Elliot, Michael, and family,

I have had the privilege to work closely with your dad on the executive team at NX Development Corp, and I have learned amazing things from Murray that I will cherish for a lifetime. He was a brilliant business strategist. 

On a caring note: I remember one day, after a long, drawn-out fiery discussion with the executive team, Murray called me and said, "Prue, you need to breathe it out." Stand up and breathe deeply from your diaphragm  - reach down to your toes and bring the breath up to your nose and let it out. I started laughing and told Murray how he reminded me of my mother, who was an opera singer. She would do some bizarre breathing exercises before a show!!

Emery and I were very shocked and saddened to learn of  Murray’s passing.  Although we met him  later in his life we very much enjoyed being in his company.  We felt a close connection with Murray because of his artistic accomplishments in dance and ballet as Emery and I are both from that world. It must be very difficult for you.  I was so shocked and saddened by hearing from Jeff that Mr. Murray Sackman passed away on the last Friday. Please accept my sincere condolences on your father’s death. 
Murray was an extremely brilliant and excellent lawyer and human being, and one of my best friends in the US. It was my great pleasure to have known him. We have been working together in the management of NXDC since 2018. We were hoping to achieve our global success in the development of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid (5-ALA) for human healthcare and medical treatment as nutritional supplements and diagnostic/therapeutic medicines, respectively. I did not know he was almost retiring due to his health problems last week. We are so sad about our loss of Murray before we together realize our dream.

Dear Elliot and Michael, 

We are all so sorry for your loss. Murray has been in our lives for 21 years and has made such a difference in them. He was generous, kind, and quick to reach out with a call offering encouragement, an opportunity, or his thoughts on the latest sports news. We knew that anytime we needed anything, he would be there for us. We admire that Murray always wanted the best for the people he loved-- he knew that you both could do anything you set your minds to. 

Our favorite memories centered around sports, holidays, and vacations. Sherry talks about coaching both of you in basketball since third grade; Murray always made sure it happened. We remember going to so many New England sports games and celebrating championships. Marcia still thinks about the plagues Murray brought out every Passover, the Cristal on New Year's, and pecan pie + vanilla ice cream on Thanksgiving. Leona thinks fondly of looking out at the bay in Cape Cod and how Murray welcomed her graciously. 

We remember Provincetown pirate ships, digging holes, lobster trips, and s'mores. Once, when you all watched the movie Atlantis, Murray walked the cold beach at night with you because you were convinced you'd find Atlantis (or at least buried treasure) at the end of the beach. We used to marvel at how he would swim in the cold water when we could barely stick a toe in. We miss him. 

He was a wonderful father to you both. He was an equally great friend to us. May his memory be a blessing.

I send my deepest sympathies to you at the passing of  your dad Murray.  As you know, Murray and I were classmates at Brandeis. While we didn't see each other for many years, we reconnected at reunions. Our love of theater and performing brought us together into collaboration, and we were able to create a wonderful dance piece. Murray loved the creative process and supported it wholeheartedly. Whenever someone mentions Buffalo, I always think of your father. There were a few Rashi parents that grew up there. 
I recall spending a lot of time in your father's company along the sidelines at sporting events, at Rashi for various programs and meetings, and at your home for parties. We enjoyed our time together. He was very proud of both of you- your accomplishments and your potential.

Gabor, Elizabeth, Michael  and I are so sorry for your loss. We will always treasure the wonderful memories of our family trips together,  your amazing  Passover sedar  where the  kids all had to act  out the story, and great times on Cape Cod, especially oysters at the Bookstore in Wellfleet. Murray was so proud of both of his boys and the young men you have grown up to be. We love you all.

I cannot express how saddened I am by this news. What a tremendous loss.   He was leaving his job to spend more time with Michael and Elliot, whom he loved so dearly from the depth of his heart. I have enjoyed knowing Murray and his family for thirty years. I will miss our weekly visits and his generous spirit.


Murray to me was always as dedicated as a coach and as a father as one could be.  It was my pleasure and honor to collaborate with him on multiple Little League teams in the late 00's with our youngest sons and other wonderful boys.  

I will miss our times together and a friend that is gone too soon, and send my condolences to his family, especially Elliot, with whom I spent the most time.  

To Marianne and his beloved sons Michael and Elliot, I send my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy.

 Having spoken to Murray just a week ago, I am especially shocked about his passing. I am heartbroken as so many are. He was so excited about retiring in a week and would be able to spend time with friends and his sons. That he was taken when he was so ready for his next chapter is especially poignant. 

The passing of a friend of over 37 years is like losing a piece of my soul. There are so many memories that are flooding over me since hearing this horrible news. He was a man of great intelligence, wit, compassion, open mindedness, thoughtfulness, patience. He shared his gifts and his flaws willingly to those around him and was eager to learn, offer a hand, share his wisdom. He always worked hard to make a difference in the world,  the world of his sons and with his friends. He will be greatly missed and I will miss him greatly. 

My deepest sympathy to Marianne, Elliot, and Michael. Murray was a dear friend who not only cared deeply about being there to support Rashi, but proudly shared his love of his sons, even making sure I always had a ride/ticket  to see Michael’s performances from high school through college. 

I was so appreciative that Murray never missed an opportunity to catch me up on the  many accomplishments of his sons, celebrating each graduation, new job, and new apartment that his boys had moved into, cherishing his ability to witness their successes. 

This kind and thoughtful friend never missed my birthday, always making sure I was doing okay. We even exchanged  emails in January as Murray wanted Rashi and me to know he was thinking of us. 

Yet I will cherish most Murray’s true and lasting commitment to staying connected. My love to Marianne and the boys and may each of you feel our love and support surrounding you.   With deepest love and friendship, Joni Fishman

I attended many Sackman family gatherings for holidays and other special occasions. Since I at times didn’t know a lot of people I would become shy and sit quietly. Murray always found me and made me feel welcome by telling me stories about his life or work and asked me about my own with deep sincerity. I will always remember Murray and his kindness and keep him and his family in my prayers. 

I am deeply saddened and shock at Murray's passing. He was an incredible intellect, teacher and coach. I was so lucky to have worked with him over the past years. He will be dearly missed.
