Nasha Levitt Miller of Newton, MA, passed away on June 21, 2025 at the age of 96. She was born on July 12, 1928, in Boston, MA. With the exception of 5 happy years spent at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH, and 4 equally happy years in New York City as a young married woman and new mother, Greater Boston remained Nasha's lifelong home.
Nasha graduated from Antioch College in 1950 and earned a Master’s in Social Work from Simmons College in 1952.
Nasha worked as a social worker throughout her life; first in family service agencies and then as the Director of Social Services at the Recuperative Center, a short-term rehabilitation center for elderly individuals. She was a tireless advocate for the choice and dignity of her patients.
Echoing her parents’ values, Nasha cherished the arts, especially the visual arts and theater and also demonstrated a strong social conscience, supporting a number of causes that were meaningful to her. In retirement, she volunteered for the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity in a variety of capacities. Her relationships with friends and loved ones were deeply meaningful throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Miller, and grandson Gregory Miller.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Miller; Dan’s wife, Linda Green; and their children Ian Miller, Julia Miller, and Andrew Miller; her daughter, Laura Miller, Laura’s husband, Kent Leonard, and their son Nicholas Leonard.
The family is grateful to Haig Hartounian, Aminata Sesay, and the staff at Adelaide of Newton Center for the thoughtful care and compassion they showed Nasha in her final days.
