
Norma Loew Fine of Boston, MA, Sarasota, FL and Hartford, VT passed away February 2, 2012, one month short of her 80th birthday. An actress and philanthropist, Ms. Fine pursued many passions with generosity, courage and heart. While raising three children, she both served as volunteer Chairman of Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Israel Bonds for Boston, and taught school. Years of involvement in politics culminated in her service as a senior aide to Boston Mary Kevin White. After her successful coordination of the National Conference o Mayors, Mayor White appointed her the Chairman of the George Robert White Fund, a public charitable trust of the City of Boston. At age 50, Norma decided to return to her initial love of acting, becoming a successful stage actress on Boston and regional stages, starring in countless commercials, and making her cinematic debut as Mrs. Goodhall in the film, Cider House Rules. Ms. Fine cared deeply about helping children in need. She endowed a Pediatric Fellowship at the Mass General Hospital, as well as supporting a number of Israel charities that help children, including Yemin Orde, a youth village in Israel where her daughter Lauri, worked. The most important children in her life were her eight extraordinary grandchildren, whose triumphs and growing pains she worried over and helped to guide every day. She was predeceased by her husband Phil David Fine and her sister Sandra Loew. She is survived by her partner of 19 years, Herb Feinstein, her sister Harriet Jacobson, her daughters, Susan Fine Lauri Fine Friedman and Debra Fine and her eight grandchildren, Eyal, Sivan and Daphna Friedman, Allison and Pamela Fine Mishkin and Jordan, Abigail and Phil Fine Schneider. Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Sunday, February 5 at 10:30 am. Burial will be private. The family will sit shiva at Norma's residence on Sunday, February 5 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to Friends of Yemin Orde, 12230 Wilkins Avenue, Rockville, MD 20852
