

Phyllis Brody passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025. She was born on July 14, 1932 and grew up in Boston, the only child of Rose and Nyman Kolodny. She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Boston University. She was also dedicated to arts and crafts such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking and baking, especially for the holidays. Her annual Rosh Hashanah honey cakes were greatly loved by many friends and relatives.
She was married to Herbert D. Brody. They briefly dated and were married for more than sixty-four years, until his death. They were longtime active members of Temple Emeth in Chestnut Hill, and they devoted themselves to many Jewish causes. She was also deeply involved in Hadassah and Sisterhood, including a term as National Vice President of Hadassah. And she and her husband traveled to Israel many times, among other places.
The couple had three children: Ellen Brody (partner of blessed memory, Howard Waldrop); Nancy Gossin (Leon Gossin); and Benjamin Brody (Michael Martin). And the family now includes four grandchildren: Thomas Brody-Martin, Isaac Brody-Martin, Anna Gossin-Maiman (Josh), and Barbara Morgan (Tom), and two great-grandchildren: Nellie and Archer.
Graveside services will be held at Moses Mendelsohn Cemetery, Jeshurun St. (off 350 Grove St.) in West Roxbury on Sunday, July 27 at 12:00pm with livestream viewing available using the following link: www.levinelive.com/7272025
Shiva will be held at Temple Emeth, 194 Grove St., Chestnut Hill on Sunday, July 27 from 4-7pm.

She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend, and will be missed by all.
