Richard Meirick Novack, age 84, born in Boston and formerly of Newton, Massachusetts, who retired to Fort Myers, Florida 17 years ago, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Claire (Rosenfeld) Novack. He was the cherished father of Karyn L. Novack, and Lawrence J. Novack; and adoring great grandfather of Jordyn & Sophie Barker.
He served our country honorably in the Korean War, where he and his buddies built an orphanage for the children who were the innocent victims of that horrible conflict. The orphanage stills stands, and continues to help children every day. He was an accomplished civil engineer and was proud to have been honored twice in "Who's Who." But, his true passion in life was scuba diving. He was a Dive Master, and then went on to become a Dive Instructor for over 25 years. He went to Australia to dive the Great Barrier Reef, and later his son took him to dive Truck Lagoon in Micronesia.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday September 19, 2016 at 1:45PM in Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Anyone wishing to pay their respects to the family may do so immediately following the service, through Tuesday evening, at the Newton Marriott, 2345 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton, MA 02466.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Hospice, 1-800-835-1673, The Alzheimer's Association, or any charity of your choice.
