Richard Marshall Salomon passed away at his home in Brighton, Massachusetts on April 2, 2023 at the age of 80, as the result of a pulmonary embolism. Beloved son of Carl and Adeline Salomon (predeceased), father of Elizabeth (Liz) and Noah Salomon, grandfather of Adelina Rose and Elijandro Gavriel Escamilla-Salomon, and Ayman and Aya Salomon, and brother of Marion Levine, Richard loved life and lived it to its fullest. Richard was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on July 19, 1942. He spent his formative years in Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School and then Hobart College, where he met his first wife, Amy, the mother of his children. Richard was an active community member in Wayland, Massachusetts, where he lived for many years, serving several terms on the Wayland School Committee. In his free time, Richard loved the outdoors, particularly the open sea and mountain scenery, and in his earlier years was an avid hiker, skier, and camper. He was a great lover of fine-dining and music, particularly opera and classical music, but also folk and bluegrass, and was a regular attendant at concerts and festivals. An avid sailor, diver and traveler, Richard had friends across the world. His sunny demeanor and carefree lifestyle (“no worries, mate”) will be sorely missed. May his memory be a blessing.
Donations in Richard’s honor may be made to the Boston Symphony Youth Orchestra (https://www.bysoweb.org/).
