Robert Sumner Fishman

Robert Sumner Fishman, PhD, mathematician, age 86, formerly of Chelsea and Marblehead, passed away on June 25, 2017. Beloved husband of Judith Landau Fishman, father of Joan and Steve Rosenthal, Allison and Micha Avramovich, Barbara and Arnie Friedfertig, Steven and Sigal Fishman. Beloved grandfather of Lee, Kate, Jon, and Alex Rosenthal; Gil, Koby, Arik, and Sivan Avramovich; Sophia and Devon Friedfertig; and Zak and Leetal Fishman. "Grandpa Bob" was universally loved and respected. A kind man, whose greatest joy was being with his family. His legendary smile lit up every room he entered and made the recipient on the other end of it feel like a million dollars. He was generous to all, always thinking of others more than himself. His gregarious nature and impish sense of humor lifted the spirits of all. In his time with us, Bob was a university mathematics professor, Star Wars defense system mathematician, and ran a monument business.

No one has ever been more loved or returned that love with equal or greater fervor. He will be missed and lives on in the hearts and minds of all whose lives he touched.

Graveside services at Klevaner Cemetery, 232 Fuller St., Everett, today, Monday, June 26 at 11:00AM.

Following burial memorial observance will be at the home of Allison and Micha Avramovich and continuing Tuesday through Thursday, 4-9:00PM, Friday 2-6:00PM and Sunday 2-6:00PM.

Memorial observance will also be at the home of Steven and Sigal Fishman on Thursday, June 29 from 4-9:00PM, Friday, June 30 from 2-6:00PM and Sunday, July 2 from 2-6:00PM.
