Son of the late Abraham and Gertrude Runstein. Devoted husband of the late Linda Fowler, loving father to Betsy Dangel and her husband Gary Mitchell, Karen Runstein Cook, and her husband Randy Cook and Richard Runstein and his wife Lori Cameron Runstein. Beloved Zayde to Alexander Dangel, Ryan Runstein and Benjamin Runstein. He is also survived by his sister Eleanor Gorsey and her husband Richard, and his brother Robert Runstein and his wife Linda. He also leaves behind his devoted caretaker Roselande “Rosie” Jean Louis.
Ron grew up in Winthrop & Newton Massachusetts, and worked alongside his father, Abraham, at the family restaurant, Coffee Ann Cafe.
Alongside family, Ron owned and operated Morrison & Schiff, a kosher meat packing company, based in Brighton Massachusetts and delicatessens in the Boston area. He was actively involved in the local Jewish community and supported many philanthropic causes.
Ron attended the University of Massachusetts, where he met his first wife, the late Marion Ginsberg Levine.
Ron had a zest for life. He was an active member at Oakley Country Club for decades, where he formed many lifelong
friendships. He participated in golf, gin games and parties, and also served on the board of directors. He could often be found in the Men’s Grill Room holding court with a cigar in hand. His joke telling was legendary.
He married his wife Linda in 1995 and they moved from Massachusetts to a lakeside home in N.H. There they enjoyed entertaining friends with great cookouts and parties. Ron was devoted to his dogs...Cooper, Winthrop and Poca.
He transitioned from a snowbird to a full-time Florida resident. In Boynton Beach he reconnected with schoolmates and made many new friends. His passion for golf, cards, and early bird specials was
contagious.
When his late wife was diagnosed with ALS, Ron committed himself to Fundraising for The ALS Association in her memory. He raised over $100,000 for this worthy cause.
