Dr. Roza Kasymova, beloved physician, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished matriarch of her family, passed away at the age of 80, surrounded by family.
Born in May 1945 in Slutsk, Belarus, Dr. Kasymova lived a life defined by devotion to family, resilience, and enduring love. The daughter of a survivor who lost the majority of her family during the Holocaust, her life was deeply shaped by survival, remembrance, and continuity across generations.
From a young age, Dr. Kasymova was extraordinarily hardworking and deeply devoted to her family. She worked during the day to support and care for her mother, and attended night school to complete her medical education. Her determination, discipline, and sense of responsibility were defining qualities that carried her through every stage of her life.
Despite a life shaped by loss, Dr. Kasymova was defined by her remarkable strength, determination, and unwavering will. She met the world with kindness and generosity of spirit, and her presence brought warmth wherever she went. She had a rare ability to shine — a bright star whose light filled every room she entered and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Dr. Kasymova was a physician who devoted her compassion and care to the blind community in Belarus, serving her patients with deep empathy, patience, and respect. Her work reflected her belief in human dignity and her commitment to caring for the most vulnerable. Beyond her profession, she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family.
She loved her family through and through, supporting her son, daughter, and grandchildren endlessly, through every challenge and every joy. Nothing could stop her; she pushed those she loved toward greatness, believing deeply in their potential and urging them to become their best selves. She took immense pride in her family and was deeply moved to witness so many meaningful milestones in her lifetime. She saw her grandchildren graduate, welcomed her long-awaited great-grandson into the world, and remained closely connected to the lives she helped shape.
Dr. Kasymova will be remembered for her resilience, her compassion, and the deep bond she shared with those she loved. Her presence was a source of comfort, strength, and continuity, and her absence leaves a profound void.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Mr. Kamyl Kasymov; her children, Ms. Tatyana Rudnitskaya and Mr. Tofik Kasymov (wife, Ms. Natalya Kasymova); her grandchildren, Dr. Lyubov Duarte (husband, Dr. Juan Duarte), Mr. Yaroslav Rudnitskiy, Mr. Edgar Kasymov, and Mr. Alexander Kasymov; and her great-grandson, Mr. Harrison Duarte, for whom she prayed endlessly. All carry her memory forward.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025 at 2:30pm at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA.
Shiva will be observed at the Duarte household.
May her memory be a blessing.
