Shaari S. Mittel, Of Brookline on December 18, 2025.
A cherished community member known for her commitment and contributions to Brookline town politics. Shaari attended Brookline High School (class of 1949) and Boston University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
Shaari’s dedication to the town of Brookline spanned more than 60 years. She was a passionate member of the Brookline League of Women Voters adopting many roles including board member, Legislative Aid and Past President. She served on the town Advisory Committee and was a Town Meeting Member for 35 years. For her civic duty, Shaari received the Massachusetts Unsung Heroines Award from the State Senate honoring her many acts of kindness and service to the community.
Beloved wife of Neuman (1930-2012) and survived by her children Laurie Carey and her husband Dave, and David, four grandchildren, her brother Paul and many friends and colleagues.
A celebration of life will be held in March 2026.
