Steve was born and raised in the Bronx, NY.
He graduated from Bronx High School of Science and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from The City College of the City University of New York in 1972. He showed a prowess for the classics, setting the stage for his 34-year career teaching English at Somerville High School. Upon retirement in 2008, Steve launched his next phase of life as a dedicated member of his Allston neighborhood, ensuring the birds and squirrels were well fed, the sidewalks were shoveled, and the garbage bins were always taken in from the street.
An avid martial artist, Steve achieved his black belt in Karate. Steve spent a lifetime collecting interesting relics such as an antique harpoon, classic books and Harry Potter novels, and a collection of classic rock vinyl.
In addition to his parents, Steve was pre-deceased by his sister Dianne Luboff (Beson) and his pet fish, Hoover, who lived way longer than anyone thought possible. Steve is survived by his nieces Karen S. Citrin of Westwood and Laura L. King of Westborough.
Graveside service will be private.
Donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the National Audubon Society, his favorite charity based on the number of free calendars and tote bags in his apartment.
