Theodore "Ted" Gold

Theodore (Ted) Thomas Gold, recently of Arlington Massachusetts, passed away peacefully Saturday morning May 13, 2023. Beloved husband of Barbara Judith Ames Gold. Beloved father to Daniel Allen Gold (and his wife Laura) and Karen Beth Gold (and her husband Gregory Ushomirsky), and grandfather to David Gold, Jacob Gold, Jonathan Gold, Ari Ushomirsky, and Ion Ushomirsky. Predeceased by his brother Burton Gold and his sister Susan (Gold) Knapp.

Born in Detroit, Ted moved to Southern California at age 8. He attended Venice High School where he excelled academically and as a member of the gymnastics and track and field teams. He received his Bachelor and Master of Mathematics degrees from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He also met his wife Barbara (Bobbi) at UCLA, on a group ski trip. Ted and Bobbi lived in Culver City for 55 years. They loved the Southern California weather and keeping physically active – frequently playing tennis, bicycling, and skiing. Ted also enjoyed taking long walks in the state park adjacent to their home and continued to do so until moving to Arlington Massachusetts in May 2021 to be close to his daughter and her family. Despite having Alzheimer’s disease, he remained physically active and enjoyed being outdoors and walking until just a few weeks before his death.

Known for his easy-going attitude and fondness for corny jokes, Ted endeared himself to those who met him even briefly. He will be deeply missed. His family is grateful for the excellent care he received in his final two years at the BrightView Arlington assisted living facility.
